Suggested Software for No Limit and Pot Limit Hold'em Cash Games

If you play big bet poker, you need to get all of the information you can before making a decision for your stack. Every bit of information you can get is power and it’s not just a few big blinds lost if you make a mistake; it’s your entire stack. With that in mind, we focus on information gathering when recommending software for No Limit and Pot Limit Hold’em cash game players.

A piece of poker tracking software with a Heads-Up Display (HUD) is the foundation of your game. Because this program is so important, it’s really worth checking out all three of the major competitors: Holdem Manager, PokerTracker, and Poker Office. All three programs have free trials and do a fine job on most computers; try them out to see which fits your needs best.

In No Limit and Pot Limit Hold’em, your cards don’t matter as much as they do in Fixed Limit or other games. Your knowledge of your opponents and their skill levels mean a lot more, so getting some knowledge as soon as possible is very important. We like HH Dealer for this because its client automatically downloads and unzips hand histories every day. It saves trouble, saves time, and gives you knowledge, which in big bet poker is literally power.

You can also find valuable information on your opponents at PokerTableRatings or by using a product like Table Shark, which can help you see the sharks and fish quickly.

All of the major sites have a version of the Bet Pot AHK script, which allows you to set the betting slider with your mouse wheel or use hotkeys to choose bets of varying sizes. This simple script will help No Limit Hold’em players add another table or two, significantly increasing their income. For more advanced AHK scripts, take a look at Full Tilt Shortcuts and Table Ninja in our review section. Both programs are excellent time savers.

Table selection is important in No Limit Hold’em and most of the serious players we know use Table Shark, although there are many options in our reviews pages that perform a similar function.

For results tracking, you will find that all of the big three stat tracking programs do an excellent job of logging your wins and losses by session, overall, or at different games and levels (for example), so you probably won’t need anything more. If you play lots of different games, we recommend Poker Charts to help you track all of your results in one place.
